As part of Design Week Birmingham, graphic designer Aaron Draplin led an afternoon design workshop for students, and professionals from around the area. The task was to reimagine a new flag for the city of Birmingham, AL. The current city flag was created in 1921 and adopted by the city council in 1925. My flag proposal looked to that original design and reassigned significance to some of the existing elements. Considering the diverse applications of a piece civic design may require, I propose a solution that can be scalable and re-oriented based on a variety of mediums.
