The quilting tradition in Gee’s Bend goes back to the 19th century, and has developed into one of the most genuine and stunning art forms of Alabama. During 2007-2008, ten large murals each containing a painting of one of the quilts from the U. S. Postage Stamp Collection, were created and placed along the route through the Gee’s Bend community of Boykin, AL in Wilcox County. This brochure was created with the University of Alabama Center for Economic Development and Alabama Front Porches as a guide for self-navigating the mural trail.
